Adventures in idolatry

While the notion of Obama-as-Art has been discussed before, I'm starting to think things might be getting out of hand...

This is hardly the strangest example of Obama-related golden calfness. For instance, take a look at this photo from The Big Picture, which features images of Obama made with 150 million carbon nanotubes by University of Michigan engineers.

But nothing I've seen so far comes as close to the "I want to knife love the President-Elect" as What Would Obama Do? The site is now peddling purple debossed silicon WWOD bracelets in the proud tradition of Lance Armstrong and, well, everyone else.

One can only hope that this Obamerchandising can float the economy until we actually have an economy again.
