Banksy is outed

Britain's the Daily Mail has just spent an exhaustive year-long investigation into a topic of deep importance. Have they found out that the Queen really is a drug dealer just like Lyndon LaRouche says?

Nope. They found out who Banksy was. AND HE'S HORRIDLY MIDDLE CLASS! BRISTOL SUBURBANITE!!! Tres horreurs!! Bring my fainting couch! Apparently this is bad because he's an anti establishment/authoritarian renegade. That he's not poor, wearing a hoodie, or committing other petty crimes are also supposed marks against his art now.

Aside from the 'now we can go arrest him' response this article has generated, I am left to wonder why anyone cares who the guy is. Does it affect what you think about the art knowing who the guy is and where he came from? If it does, shouldn't you grow up? Most of the great artists from Van Gogh to Gauguin are terminally weird freaks with severe mental problems, addictions, deviant sexual proclivities and/or diseases. We should rejoice that one came from such boredom and isn't molesting island children with his cock rot.

Now go arrest him.

P.S. Lots of artists now are middle or upper class. Lots are kids of people who are in the arts fields. Why is that? They're the only ones with parents who can either afford or have the time to provide an arts education. They're also the ones who go to school districts that can fund arts programs.
