Quote of the day

Arizona Republican State Senator Sylvia Allen, combining my two favorite environmental devastation justifications, JESUS~! and the premise that the planet is too big for us to fuck it up too bad, to justify a plan to mine uranium:
the vice chairman of the committee, argued in favor of mining by saying that the earth “has been here 6,000 years, long before anybody had environmental laws, and somehow it hasn’t been done away with.”
In fact during the course of her science dissertation she stated the earth was 6,000 years old....twice. The matter-of-fact, "I can't believe anyone would think otherwise" nature in the tone of her voice is great as well. I'm just glad no one tried to explain to her that whole thing about uranium half-life and the dating of the planet, otherwise someone might have been injured after her head exploded.
