A competitor attempts to tear off the head of a killed goose attached to a rope, which is repeatedly raised and lowered into the harbour, during fiestas in the Basque fishing town of Lekeitio. Successful participants are allowed to keep the goose.
Here we are trying to get excited about the upcoming season of millionaires crippling each other for our entertainment, when Spain has it all figured out: Goose Corpse Mangling. They don't do it for the money or the fame, they do it for the competition and the bird ripping, for the purity of the sport. They do it for the free goose meat. I think we can all learn something from this.
