A request

To the media:

When referring to the Michael Phelps pot incident, can we please refer to the implement he's smoking out of as a 'bong' and not a 'marijuana pipe'? No one outside of seventy year old men who mutter about "those damned beatniks" has ever referred to a 'marijuana pipe'. In fact, saying the words "marijuana pipe' in the presence of decent company would cause people to think you were either an undercover journalist or a fucking narcotics agent.

Saying 'bong' doesn't make you less of a journalist, the fact that you're leading off the news with the story does.
