The Porcine Governor of Alaska

Sarah Palin or breakfast? Who can tell?

Did you hear the sound? It was our election hitting a new low. It was a double whammy, with John McCain running an ad about Obama wanting to touch the penises of your kindergartners and followed it up with accusing Obama of calling Sarah Palin and thus all women pigs. The media only took the bait on the second one.

Apparently Obama wants to show your kids hardcore pornography before nap time but after collage time. That's the new claim from McCain in an ad where he states that Obama's one lone accomplishment (he actually gave him credit for something) is "legislation to teach 'comprehensive sex education' to kindergartners" and that Obama wants kids "Learning about sex before learning to read". It then intones that he's "Wrong for your family". Now you already guessed that this isn't in any way true. But the great part, other than the sheer moral bankruptcy of the ad and the McCain campaign (TIME's Joe Klein called it "one of the sleaziest ads I've ever seen in presidential politics"), is that the legislation that Obama is being knocked for supporting actually was to teach children how to recognize abuse and child predators so that they could report it to adults or law enforcement.

The meaner, less ethically tethered among us would say to run a counter ad saying McCain is pro-child molester and he wants sexual predators to lure your children into their gingerbread houses, but alas, the Obama campaign seemingly has moral scruples. Though they did refer to McCain as having no honor, a charge that seems more and more factual with each passing day. As such, the media didn't take the bait (yet) and are actually more or less calling McCain a scumbag if they even deign to mention the ad at all (most aren't).

As to the bait the media did take. Yesterday on referencing the the McCain campaign's attempt to loot the 'change' theme from Jefferson Teddy Roosevelt Franklin Roosevelt Kennedy Reagan Clinton Obama, Barack referred to the attempt as "putting lipstick on a pig" and that "you can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper and call it change. It's still going to stink, after eight years". Republicans, hearing 'lipstick' and 'pig', immediately thought of Sarah Palin and sent out a press release demanding Obama apologize for the vile slur he propagated against all women. Yes, the party of "feminazi" and "Hillary Clinton is a communist dyke satanist" is concerned about gender sensitivity.

Even if you strip all context and meaning away from the phrase (and boy did the McCain camp strip it away) Obama was still talking about John McCain. If he was calling anyone a pig it was John-boy. And an old fish to boot. But no, we have hysterical protestations from the right about Obama's vicious slander of all women, but especially Sarah Palin. They pretend to never have heard the phrase before, forget all the times McCain has said it this campaign season (even about....*gasp* Hillary Clinton.....A WOMAN....and *gasp* a Mormon sex bot named Mittens), and generally try to fake that sweet sweet outrage and pretend to care about a gender they vote to keep on a second tier status, what with the unequal pay and the uterus owning. It worked.

Of course the media made this the story of the day, giving it wall to wall coverage, their talking heads intoning about how "Some people say..." Obama slandered all women, "While others feel..." that words and context have a meaning and we should stop wasting time on transparent lies and fake outrage from a campaign with nothing of interest to say. Thus, instead of issues, we get coverage and 'discussion' about a ginned up, phony story. This is more or less what Obama said today when 'responding' to the 'controversy'.

So there's a lesson to be learned here future politicos and military junta leaders: sling as much dishonest shit against the wall, the media will pick up some of of it and pretend it's a delicious muffin. Become the spastic gorilla excrement machine gunner we know you can be and you'll find success. Objectivity and truth are dead, killed on the altar of "Some people say...". Obama will touch all the penises of your underage pigs while he disrespects your women-animal hybrids. I saw it in a press release, it must be true and must be worth talking about. The media will only talk about issues in a dismissive tone to note that the candidates aren't talking about the issues the media refuses to cover. This is your country, your political process, and your election. Steam in the shit sauna, inhale the aroma, and enjoy the ride. President McCain awaits you.
