Via the Atlantic's James Fallows comes this new app for Google Maps by Paul Rademacher which allows you get a sense for the size of the Gulf oil spill. You know, in case "the entire Gulf of Mexico" doesn't quite let you understand the scale of the devastation.
Perhaps if it were compared to the size of San Francisco...
Or the DC/Baltimore metro area...
And the spill is growing larger by the hour. So... yeah. At least it isn't happening on land though. That would be worse... marginally worse.
