Who is this man?

If you ever had any notion that the US Senate wasn't a place that thoroughly degrades debate, harms everything it touches, and grinds down intelligence into a dull nub I present the case of one Dr. Bill Frist. By Dr. Bill Frist we are of course referring to former Republican Senate Majority Leader Frist. You know, the guy that got the Senate to try to interject itself into the Terry Schiavo situation, diagnosing her based on a video. The guy that threatened to throw out judicial filibusters just because Bush couldn't get everyone he wanted confirmed. The guy who tried to be the Senate's Tom Delay.

What's he up to now? Inexplicably making sense on a host of different health care issues. He's appeared on CSPAN to knock down and attack people (his party) who criticized the proposed health care plan as socialism. This after he endorsed said health reform, endorsed individual mandates, talked rationally on using reconciliation to pass health reform, and knocked his party for the death panel nonsense among other things. Then he went and knocked down Bill Maher when he started talking absolute shit about vaccines.

Guh? I...I don't know what to say. Who is this man? What happened? It can't just be that he left the Senate, can it? I know medical studies have shown that doing so causes an immediate jump of up to 100 IQ points, but rationally discussing things in terms of policy and not politics and without regard for party? They must have reversed a lobotomy or something.

They should run ads with the Maher video and video of his Senate floor medical diagnoses with the message "This is your brain, this is your brain in the Senate...any questions?" Hopefully it will reach our best and brightest before they irrevocably damage their life with Senate campaigns and mentally degrading Senate terms. Help us spread the word before it affects someone you know.
