Gov. Paterson will unveil legislation to legalize gay marriage on Thursday, a legislative source confirmed.

Paterson will introduce the measure - which revives a bill that died in 2007 - despite uncertain prospects for its adoption in the state Senate.

I suspect this has little to do with civil rights or embracing the all-but-foregone conclusion that, hey, gay people are people, too. Rather, Governor Patterson's bill is just the latest in a long series of supposedly leftist anti-'Merican initiatives aimed at bailing out the failing newspaper and PAC flier printers dotting the landscape between the Ohio River and the Rocky Mountains.

After all, if they can't hate tolerance and progress on the cheap, what good are they?
