How things are going to be

Like most regular Freedomericans I too wonder what my future is under the yoke of Obamacare, plowing the fields of socialism. What will this bill mean for me, the most important of all Americans: the lowly read dick joke blogger. Some would say I look at this Washington Post health care calculator to have it specifically tell me what it means for me. Others would offer up Speaker Pelosi's page where the bill, summaries of the bill, bullet points of the bill and all sorts of other information about the bill is listed. Maybe some would say I should look at Ezra Klein's series on explaining the health care reform, or the Kaiser Family Foundation's health reform page, maybe you could look through the health care section of the Wonk Room, take a gander around the Center For American Progress, or maybe you should just avail myself of Google... provided you're outside China.

Those people would be wrong. The people I need to listen to are right wing media pundits. They're going to tell me exactly what it's going to be like now that this reform has become law.
Beck added: "You must -- must get on the phone in your districts. You must wake everybody up you know. This is the end of prosperity in America forever if this bill passes. This is the end of America as you know it."

Beck "warn[ed]" that if the bill "passes, the country is in real dire trouble." He went on to say: "The pieces that the president needs to control every aspect of your life, to fundamentally transform America, will be finished. He'll have them all,"

Limbaugh stated: "It is a government takeover of health care and granny is gonna die. Granny always dies at some point -- we all do. It's gonna be hastened under this bill."

Fox News contributor Dick Morris said what Obama "has in mind is curbing medical care to the elderly," and that he's "going to set up a panel" to determine treatment. Morris said he's "100 percent positive" this will happen.

Fox Business: "Does Obamacare mean millions more jobs destroyed?"

Cramer: "Obamacare will topple the stock market."

Limbaugh: Democrats will regulate "every aspect of our lives."

Syndicated columnist Cal Thomas said on Fox News: "The president says they're not going to pull the plug on granny. No, but they will deny her care because she's costing too much and she's too old."

Radio host Jim Quinn said that "Bolshevik Barbie and our marginally documented president" want "the power to control your body and your life. Quinn added: "Giving the government that power is allowing the government to commit a violent assault on your body -- a violent assault on your most precious possession, which is your life."

Quinn predicted that "if they pass this thing, you are going to see insurrection. You're going to see an uprising. People are just not going to take this. This is about establishing from now on and forever a socialist state in America, ripping the Constitution to shreds which progressives have hated for over 100 years.

Quinn: "If they pass health care ... that is the end of the republic."

Cal Thomas claimed health reform "is an outrage" and "a sham"; "[e]uthanasia is coming."

Limbaugh: "Human beings will die earlier than normal" under "freedom killing" and "life threatening" health-care reform.

Limbaugh said the "whole bill is about death" and "rationing." He continued: "It is the single greatest tool the government will have to regulate every aspect of behavior. This is a freedom killing, and it is going to end up being a life-threatening bill."

Chris Baker suggested that health reform will lead to overweight people going to jail or being put to death

Limbaugh: "Obamacare" will "smother the individual," "aimed at robbing you of your humanity," "all of us will be slaves."

Dr. Peter Venkman: Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria!

Dr. Egon Spengler: Try to imagine all life as you know it stopping instantaneously and every molecule in your body exploding at the speed of light.

Dr Ray Stantz: Total protonic reversal.
I don't think I'm going to like this health reform thing at all. Christ, those last three guys were doctors. I don't want my protons reversing or my molecules exploding at the speed of light. THAT'S NOT THE CHANGE I SIGNED UP FOR BARRY!

Oh God, there's no hope. It's really the complete collapse of everything and everything, with slavery, human sacrifice, euthanasia, death panels, and some sort of temporal displacement where George Washington is erased from history. If only we knew beforehand. What have we wrought?

Revolution!

Health care has passed and conservative pundits aren't taking it well. Ok, they weren't exactly taking the run-up to health care reform passing well. Ok, they didn't exactly take the election of Barack Obama well. Ok, they didn't exactly take the eight years of the George W. Bush Presidency well. But on this, they're really not taking it well.

Of course the man taking it the least well is Glenn Beck. We all knew that one was coming. But even I'm a little surprised at how poorly our little aardvark loving aficionado is taking this. Right now he's huddled in a nuclear fallout shelter slamming GI Joes together, making "PEW PEW PEW" sounds with his mouth as he careens a jet fighter through the air, and is ranting about WAR and BATTLE and FIGHTING and THIS ISN'T OVER and YOU'LL NEVER TAKE ME ALIVE! So much so that Media Matters couldn't contain it in one post.
Beck: "The war is just beginning."
...
Beck suggests that progressives support "armed insurrection."

...
"Why would the president take up immigration right away, after he's just punched you in the face with health care?"
...
"You'd pick up a gun? Have you ever thought of that?" He then pointed to several pictures, including images of Obama and Pelosi, and stated: "These people have. Because possibly, maybe the question should be asked, maybe they're tired of evolution, and maybe they are waiting for revolution." Beck also said: "Haven't we just been spanked? Hasn't most of the country -- doesn't most of the country feel like they've been spanked over health care? You bet. I do, you do. A lot of people do."
...
"You can try to put the lid on this group of people, but you will never silence us. You will never -- you can shoot me in the head, you can shoot the next guy in the head, but there will be 10 others that line up."
Yes, we've all been spanked. Erotically spanked by health care. But enough of that, THIS IS WAR! REVOLUTION IS AT HAND! PICK UP A GUN! THEY'RE COMING TO KILL ME!

Yes, Obama has sent out hit squads to silence Glenn Beck. Even as we speak these elite SEAL teams are traipsing through the forests of Glenn's mind, unlatching the aardvark pen, busting through his windows, climbing up his pant leg with his grandma with a knife in their teeth, bursting out of his box of Golden Grahams, and hiding everywhere... waiting to get him. Don't you get it? Don't you see?

MOSES! JEWS! COMMANDMENTS! The second American revolution is at hand!

I feel for Glenn I really do. Ok, I don't. I hope this ends with him lighting himself on fire at Teabagstock '11. But, I guess I just didn't foresee how poorly he was going to take this "slightly cheaper/better health care for the peasants" thing. This has just been what he's been up to over the past few days. Who knows what chalkboard diagrams, battle movements, and calls for armed insurrection he's drawing up in his basement, tears staining the plans as he cries "I didn't want to have to do this to you America, I LOVE YOU!"?

Glenn, just breathe into a paper bag, stop making batches of hard tack, and cancel the fife and drum lessons. It'll be all right. Well, at least until Sebelius and the HHS release the nanites that read thoughts and kill based on the degree of right wing rhetoric rattling around your frontal cortex. Then you're fucked. But there's nothing you can do about it. It's nanotechnology. That's why Obama chose it to kill the elderly and everyone who has ever uttered a thought in opposition to him. Didn't you read this health bill? This is all useless gesturing. You're dead already. Use what time you have left.

Fare thee well, teabaggers

Ah teabaggers, your time in our political discourse was too short. It seems only yesterday you were getting angry about taxes you didn't understand, then morphed into hating a health care bill you didn't understand, filling your protests with racist signs, misspelled placards, Hitler caricatures, and messages about socialism, the Constitution, the founding fathers, and communism that showed you didn't understand any of those concepts either. Who can forget how you were completely co-opted by the Republican, right wing media, and corporate establishment?

Then there was the whole part where you seemed to embrace every weird birth certificate and ACORN conspiracy that could be conceived and then dragged the Republican party into a frothy rage of hate, obstruction, and insanity that might terminally harm the party. We aren't so miffed about that last one.

And how can we forget the entire industry of scrotal and ball dipping jokes that the unfortunate moniker you chose opened up? Truly it was the golden age of testicle jokes.

But now you're dead, having utterly failed at your mission to stop health care and complain about the tax cuts Obama gave you. You're left to go home, rage about government in private, and reap the benefits of cheaper more accessible health care that you didn't want. Maybe we'll see you co-opted again and used to oppose regulatory reform, climate action, or a jobs bill, but it just won't be the same.

So until some of your loopier members stockpile enough guns to stage another Ruby Ridge or go back to Minnesota's 6th District to run for re-election, we'd just like to salute you. The way you made it seem like the only opposition to health care was lacking sanity and the way you made it so no one who wanted reform had to ever enter into a real health care debate, just rebut crazy shit like death panels, was a tremendous boon to reform.

Farewell and adieu, teabaggers. We'll see you on the rainbow bridge. In memoriam the Daily Show has put up a greatest hits of your exploits and their mocking of your exploits.

Americans are an ungrateful people

On the same day he handed over 32 million new customers to the health care and insurance industries, Barry gets hit with this new Harris poll. We, however, get to be entertained by statistical irrelevance birthed by suggestive phrasing and innuendo. Seriously, this is some amazing shit, even for an obvious push poll. According to this poll, 57% of Republicans believe that Barack Obama is a Muslim.

Sure. As evidenced by his long-standing relationship with the Trinity United Church of Christ and its campaign manager's dream of a former pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, not to mention the
extremely public retelling of his journey to Christianity.

Also found in the poll:
  • 67% of Republicans believe that Obama is a socialist.
  • 62% of Republicans believe that Fruit Punch is a gay boxer.
  • 45% of Republicans believe that Obama was "not born in the United States."
  • 77% of Republicans believe that "Lost" will sort itself out by season's end.
  • 38% of Republicans believe that Obama is "doing many things Hitler did."
  • 51% of Republicans believe that John Boehner's skin tone is natural.
  • 24% of Republicans believe that Obama "may be the antiChrist."
  • 83% of Republicans believe that Greedo shot first.
How we love you, Harris Polling. You make Louie Gohmert look like a fucking constitutional law scholar.

Of demons and abortions

If you've looked around the streets of your fair city or town today and have noticed that there seem to bee less crazies in the street panhandling for change, handing our xeroxed pamphlets about Ayn Rand, and ranting about the end times, that's with good reason: they're all in Washington putting on their final teabagger march against health reform. Waving around signs that say "Paid for by the RNC" in a bit of unintended irony and admitting defeat before they have even worked themselves into a full incoherent froth.

But as it is a Tea Party rally, that means there is ample opportunity for GOP Representatives to get up in front of a large crowd of crazies with misspelled placards and vaguely racist characters of our Kenyan President and try to out crazy them. Take for instance Louie Gohmert of, no surprises here, Texas. He decided to go for the gusto.
GOHMERT: I brought the bill that’s being talking about. Now I don’t want to offend anybody, I’m sure that there are people here who think abortion is okay, and I don’t want to make you sick, but I brought an abortion to show you today.
He then held up a bloody fetus high in the air, yelled "fuckin' liberals" and then tomahawk dunked it into a body bag that had "Reserved for Everyone's Grandma" stenciled on it.

Actually he held up the health care bill. He then made some claims about how the bills funds abortion, funds illegal immigrants, funds abortions from illegal immigrants, funds illegal immigrant abortions, and various other combinations of the words "illegals" and "abortion" you can think of. Of course this is not true. I did not have to tell you that, there are plenty of places to tell you that. Hell the bill probably makes abortion laws more restrictive in this country. But screaming facts at a tea bagger rally just isn't the style of the times, so we'll move on.

Gohmert wasn't finished moving on though, and he claimed to sense mystical spirits in the air.
There’s a whole lot of demons going on. There’s a lot of demons around here apparently.
He ain't afraid of no ghost! This bill is possessed! It's got the evil spirits and the ill omens! They call upon the spirit of Ronald Reagan and Hayek to exorcise it! This bill is unclean!

Frankly I just wish they'd pick one line of attack. Is this bill the ominous Ides of March? A vicious Pelosi-led suicide attack? The advent of the grandmapocalypse? A demonic abortion? The dawn of a virulent new socialist-communist hybrid? The end of civilization as we know it? I just want to know what evil I'm contributing to when I find it slightly easier to get slightly cheaper health care in 2014.

Eat it, Jefferson. Eat it hard.

Last week we congratulated Texas for sending Don McElroy, the man who was spearheading Texas' efforts to use school textbooks as a means to rewrite history with a right wing christian conservative bent, packing in a primary contest. But we added in the caveat that the man still had several months left on his term and the board still had a christian conservative bent, so there was still time for them to do some damage. And boy did they ever decide to use the time they had left.

Among the changes made include:
removing a reference to “sex and gender as social constructs” in order to avoid exposing students to “transvestites, transsexuals and who knows what else”, refused to require that students learn the Constitution prevents the U.S. government from promoting one religion over all others, added references to "laws of nature and nature's God" in sections about major political ideas, made the second amendment the only relevant idea in the Bill of Rights, considered it important to learn about "the conservative resurgence of the 1980s and 1990s, including Phyllis Schlafly, the Contract With America, the Heritage Foundation, the Moral Majority and the National Rifle Association", students now learn about the "violent philosophy of the Black Panthers" to counterbalance the nonviolence platform of MLK, tries to excuse the inherent racism of Japanese internment, added apologetics for McCarthyism and the McCarthy hearings because I guess that whole period wasn't all bad, made it so that Hispanics don't exist inside of US history, added ominous references to the "unintended consequences" of of the Great Society legislation, affirmative action and Title IX, removed the word "capitalism" because it has a "negative connotation", and knocked Thomas Jefferson out of the required curriculum and the Enlightenment... mostly because he coined the phrase “separation between church and state”. It also didn't help that he was a paleontologist.
So America is a Christian nation whose founders gave no thought to anything other than Biblical law ruling the land, whites did everything, McCarthyism and internment weren't so bad, and Thomas Jefferson isn't important to US history but Phyllis Schlafly is. Let's let Donny boy explain himself.
“We are adding balance,” said Dr. Don McLeroy, the leader of the conservative faction on the board, after the vote. “History has already been skewed. Academia is skewed too far to the left.”
Yes, reality does have a well known liberal bias. What's one of the non-crazy board members think?
Mary Helen Berlanga, [stormed] out of a meeting late Thursday night, saying, “They can just pretend this is a white America and Hispanics don’t exist.”
Yes they can.
“They are going overboard, they are not experts, they are not historians,” she said. “They are rewriting history, not only of Texas but of the United States and the world.”
Yeah, but if you rewrite history, then it becomes history! See how it works? Ah well, who needed to learn about Thomas Jefferson anyway? If he was important he would have had a bigger role in HBO's John Adams mini-series.

A round of applause for Texas' contributions to education, culture, and knowledge. It's not enough that our culture, media, entertainment, government, politicians, and news work to dumb this country down, now we have to go into books in an attempt to more proactively dumb our kids down. I'm sure it's all for the best, who learns anything from history anyway?

A pat on the head for Texas

It's easy to deride Texas, they give us so much material. Whether it's their constant promotion and encouragement of institutionalized ignorance, their governor's low level insanity and penchant for using his office as a platform to execute innocent men and pander to teabaggers, or Colt McCoy getting injured and Alabama molesting the Longhorns on national TV, the state is funny. 'Trainwreck'/'finding humor in the horror' funny, but funny.

But when the state manages to do something good, it is our duty to point it out and praise them for it. You remember Don McElroy, right? He's the man that was spearheading the effort to rewrite Texas' textbooks to not only espouse unscientific creationist nonsense, but rewrite history book as some sort of conservative/Republican promotional tool and elevate Reagan and Jerry Falwell somewhere above George Washington and Thomas Jefferson in American historical importance. This essentially meant that textbooks would be rewritten for dozens of states. Well, he's going to have to look for a job.
Social conservatives on the State Board of Education suffered a setback with the primary loss of former board chairman Don McLeroy, but the group still aims to have its say on setting new curriculum standards.

Mount Pleasant Republican Thomas Ratliff edged out McLeroy in the GOP primary Tuesday for the board seat...Ratliff's campaign was based in part on reducing the influence of the board's social conservative bloc.
...
Ratliff, who got 50.5 percent of the vote, said his long-term goal is to help move the board back to a strong focus on education and remove politics from the process.
Good luck with that. Congrats Texas, you've moved one step away from what we all thought your societal future was: loinclothed, ten gallon hat wearing cavemen shrieking at the sun for cursing the cattle with ill omens.

We aren't going to thank you too hard, Ratliff won by 50.5%, McElroy still has seven fucking months to damage the brains of children, and let's not discount all the damage he's already done, but it seems you are dimly aware of the predicament you are putting yourselves into.

So, mild congratulations abounds.

Shamu and God

God is an angry wizard, that much is certain. When we anger him he casts down judgment in the form of unspeakable horrors. Category Five hurricanes because of the gays. Terrorist attacks because of the gays. Giant country destroying earthquakes because of the blacks making a pact with the devil. Also: probably a little about the gays.

And how do we know this? Well 15 minutes after it happens some helpful thumper of a bible, usually Pat Robertson, comes out and tells us so... and, if you wouldn't mind, asks for a donation. Now as our most amusing, leaping sea creatures rise up against us instead of entertaining the whole family, we can only ask one thing: what have the gays done this time? Oh enlighten us, American Family Association.
Chalk another death up to animal rights insanity and to the ongoing failure of the West to take counsel on practical matters from the Scripture. [...] Says the ancient civil code of Israel, “When an ox gores a man or woman to death, the ox shall be stoned, and its flesh shall not be eaten, but the owner shall not be liable.” (Exodus 21:28) So, your animal kills somebody, your moral responsibility is to put that animal to death. You have no moral culpability in the death, because you didn’t know the animal was going to go postal on somebody. But, the Scripture soberly warns, if one of your animals kills a second time because you didn’t kill it after it claimed its first human victim, this time you die right along with your animal. To use the example from Exodus, if your ox kills a second time, “the ox shall be stoned, and its owner also shall be put to death.” (Exodus 21:29)
You're off the hook, gays. Shamu went nuts because Sea World doesn't properly follow Exodus in it's animal handling guidelines.... among other basic safety issues it doesn't follow. For some reason the Sea World Corporation are also against killing their own handlers as punishment. And so God has cursed them yet again. The Bible is an informative How-To guide, not just spiritually, but in the running of your amusement park.

But I think it's too pat an answer to blame the Christian God for his hand in orca related deaths. Smiting Haiti and New Orleans? Of course, that makes sense. But I think we can squarely put the blame for this one on Neptune. We have stolen His sea creatures from His oceans, and he is slowly taking his revenge by killing marine biologists one by one. Or perhaps the Snorks are behind it, I don't know. All I know is that God doesn't usually wet his beak in this penny ante death stuff. God plays big, bets big, wins big.

So just in case you forgot, the AFA would like to remind you: God is responsible for everything horrible that makes the news. Doesn't that just make you want to rush out and find religion?

Why the UK is better than us: Example 1273b

Oh Brittania, how I envy thee. You have a right wing that fights to preserve and improve your universal, cheap, socialist health care. You are rife with charming top hatted street urchins who sing jaunty tunes and perform enjoyable dance numbers while they pickpocket and steal to get by. Your government seems to be able to function. Stephen Fry.

Here in the Colonies, we have a cottage industry of mouth breathing idiots who lie. slowly degrade our country, and dumb down the populace, all the while raking in hundreds of millions of dollars for themselves. We call them right wing talk radio pundits. Whereas here they thrive, prosper, multiply, and be nourished by our corporate culture, you seem to deal with them in a different, better way.
Today, Color of Change and StopBeck.com announced that the United Kingdom has forcefully rejected Fox News host Glenn Beck. In fact, the UK broadcast of his show “was forced to run without any advertisements” for five days in a row as of yesterday. Additionally, 103 companies have agreed to stop their ads from appearing on his program.
And since that report was made the count now stands at 116 dropped sponsors and six, verging on seven, days without UK advertisers. Oh, to live in a country that rejects Glenn Beck. No, I live in the one that nourishes, and rewards his deranged conspiracy theories, race baiting, semi-retarded (RAHM~!) camera mugging, sub-morning show DJ personality, and weepy chalkboard diatribes with millions of avid listeners and millions of dollars.

Now I realize that all of this is because Beck's special brand of hysterical crazy doesn't tap into whatever the British equivalent of decades of poor, white, southern rage is, his pedantic critiques and conspiracies ring hollow with distance, and his protestations of the socialist menace ring hollow to people who see real benefit and are noticeably better off than Americans thanks to the icy, black hand of socialism. I don't care.

You've done yourself a great service, UK. You've walled the loony into his own asylum and are not allowing him to infect your country with a plague of madness. Unfortunately for me the asylum you walled him in is the country I live in, but we were going down anyway. Save yourselves.

Educated tea baggers

It's easy to make fun of the tea bagging movement. They call themselves tea baggers, seem to be willing tools of large corporations who most assuredly aren't their friends, are rife with the fringiest conspiracy theorists and low rent racists, and their gatherings are fertile ground for gawking at cheap political theater and a grammatical killing field of poorly spelled placards with even more poorly thought out ideas on them.

Plus it's easy to knock them for not even understanding what the hell it is they're so outraged about. Why? Because they don't know what they're talking about. Especially on their signature issue of being freaked out that a black man is President taxes. From a recent CBS poll:
Here's the poll question: "In general, do you think the Obama Administration has increased taxes for most Americans, decreased taxes for most Americans or have they kept taxes the same for most Americans?"
...
Of people who support the grassroots, "Tea Party" movement, only 2 percent think taxes have been decreased, 46 percent say taxes are the same, and a whopping 44 percent say they believe taxes have gone up.
For those of you playing at home, that means somewhere around 90% of the tea bag movement is completely uninformed about their key issue. Because unless the tea bag movement is entirely comprised of the top 5% of earners in this country, then just about every single tea bagger got a tax cut from the Marxist Kenyan abortionist currently occupying his ACORN stolen throne. And that's just income taxes, as Comrade Obama also passed a bunch of small business tax cuts, homeowner and home-buyers tax cuts, tax cuts for people with kids, and tax cuts for people with forged Hawaiian birth certificates.

On the other hand, our President is a blackety black black black and we're Taxed Enough Already! AMIRITE?

Let's all give a warm round of applause for privileged white ignorance and inchoate rage.

For your edification

IF we are about one thing here at These Bastards, it is education. We're also about laughing at the misery of others, lamenting the state of affairs, wishing ill to our social/financial/elected betters, and dick jokes, but we're mostly about education.

Take the tea party movement. For months we've been laboring under the assumption that they were a fringe offshoot of right wingers, as well as being too crazy for words. We were wrong. Rasmussen polling told us so.
Running under the Tea Party brand may be better in congressional races than being a Republican.

In a three-way Generic Ballot test, the latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds Democrats attracting 36% of the vote. The Tea Party candidate picks up 23%, and Republicans finish third at 18%. Another 22% are undecided.
That's right, the people in the “Project 912 Glenn Beck Tea Party” video below, which includes immortal discussion on “infiltration by the Communist Party” in government and the rallying cry “Burn the books!...The ones in college, those, those brainwashing books.... Like, the evolution crap”, are more popular than the Republican Party.

So we're sorry teabaggers and teapartiers, you aren't a fringe offshoot of the GOP, the GOP is a fringe offshoot of you.

It' a shame though, Sean and I are going to go broke helping support you and groups like you. Ah well, that's the price of purposes of unending amusement & disdainful blog fodder

Stay classy, Family Research Council

As many of you know, the Employment Non-Discrimination Act is going through our various legislative bodies in an attempt to add "sexual orientation" to the list of things employers cannot discriminate against. Namely race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. Now to most of us, we would simply think that meant you couldn't fire someone because they were gay. Oh no, dear readers, the Family Research Council is here to tell you that it means something much, much more sinister.
Earlier this month, the far-right Family Research Council (FRC) sent a fundraising action alert fearmongering about the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), which has been introduced in both the House and Senate and President Obama says he is “pushing hard to pass.” “This law would punish anyone in the workplace who dares oppose homosexual behavior, cross-dressing and other unhealthy behaviors,” said the FRC alert.

In a four-page solicitation letter mailed to supporters this month, which was obtained by ThinkProgress, the conservative organization went even further in its rhetoric, claiming that President Obama wants to “impose homosexuality and silence Christianity in workplaces”
Everyone is compulsorily ordered to be gay and Christianity is outlawed? I though that would have been harder to pass than health care but apparently not. I guess the only question is, soon to be gay readers, is if the Democrats will bundle this with the proposed legislation that forces mandatory abortions and conversion to Islam, or do you think they'll pass them separately so that we can have two ceremonies heralding the death of freedom, religion, and America?

I hoping for two. I already bought a cake shaped like George Washington kissing the feet of Osama bin Laden and we can cook an eagle on the grill for the second party. Ah, it doesn't matter, this is just something we'll have to hash out after Obama forces us to be gay.

Quote of the Day

Former Bush press secretary Dana Perino, who actually might have been the most vapid of all the Bush press secretaries (but not the sexiest *winks* *whistles* I'm talkin' 'bout you McClellan. Strut that sexy ass), engaging in a titanic battle of wits about those nasty liberals and how they don't use the phrase "war on terror" on Sean Hannity's comedy program.
PERINO: They want to do all of their investigations. I don’t know. All of the thinking that goes into it. But we did not have a terrorist attack on our country during President Bush’s term. I hope they’re not looking at this politically. I do think we owe it to the American people to call it what it is.
Damn straight! I mean, other than those anthrax attacks and that tiny little incident in New York, Washington, and Shanksville, she's exactly right. But honestly, can't we just blame those on Bill Clinton and the concept of liberalism? I think we can. By the way, nice job of correcting her, Hannity.

You know, I really hope that this was the beginning of some new right wing meme. Who was President when 9/11 occurred, like global warming, evolution, or most of scientific and economic theory, is just an opinion held by some some liberal historians. There is actual debate among the larger historical community as to who was in charge when 9/11 happened. Dana and Sean are just trying to teach the controversy.

Otherwise this would just be a sad example of two nitwits getting so intellectually overexerted while declaring that liberals are mortally afraid of using the term "war on terror", that they just made an egregious factual gaffe. C'mon, that's so Bush-era. We're in the Age of Obama: everything is a socialist conspiracy and nothing is the truth. Take a page from Mr. Beck and start flogging this "no terrorist attacks happened under Bush" meme to it's fullest extent. For America's sake.

On the plus side: at least she was able to find a decent job after she left the Bush Administration.

Brooklyn Tech 1, Westboro Baptist Church 0

A dozen or so of those gutless lunatics from the Westboro Baptist Church showed up in Brooklyn yesterday to spread Christ's words of forgiveness and love. The only problem? Over 200 Brooklyn Tech students found out about the protest in advance, organized, and staged a much bigger counter-protest.
Outnumbered by nearly 200 students from Brooklyn Technical High School, the Westboro Baptist Church protesters, escorted by police officers, left the corner of Fort Greene Place and Fulton Street at 3:45, 15 minutes earlier than scheduled. (The protest had been scheduled for 3:20 p.m. to 4 p.m.)
Be sure to scroll down and read young Brian Benavidess sign near the bottom of the post. Such a clever little bastard.
