Speaking of those cliches, Mike Russell of CulturePulp is kind enough to give you the "Make Your Own Disaster Movie" cliche rundown. Does 2012 follow this exact layout? Almost to the letter. But poor Mr. Russell seems to have forgotten about a hundred other disaster cliches that also applied. Perhaps his arm would have fallen off if he attempted to draw them. It doesn't matter, Roland Emmerich didn't forget a single one.

Good morning, go see 2012
Yes, go see 2012. "It looks terrible" you say. "It is terrible" I say. But it's that magical kind of terrible that never offends or insults too badly, entertains the entire way, provides enough spectacle and unintentional humor to counterbalance the lack of any real drama, has John Fucking Cusack and Woody Goddamn Harrelson in it, and will lose any sense of spectacle, grandeur, or point if watched on anything less than a giant movie screen. Go see 2012, it is a 10,000 foot monument to scientific mumbo jumbo, ethnic stereotypes, plot contrivances, epic destruction, and pointless deaths wrapped up in almost every film cliche and tied off with a bow of the most meanspirited deaths and worldview that might have ever made it into a major blockbuster release.

Areyoureadeeefosumfooooballll!
With the NFL season kicking off tonight with Mine and Sean's beloved Pittsburgh Steelers taking on the Tennessee Titans (full rubbing your nose in shit disclosure: I'm going), one question remains: are you ready for some football? Now if you root for God's team, as we do, you probably think you are in fact, ready for some football. You are not. Listen to this 30-40 times:
Now you are ready for some football...and possibly ready to kill the next living thing you see with your bare hands. Such is the power of NFL Films music, Sam Spence, and Classic Battle.

His ideas are intriguing to me and I wish to subscribe to his newsletter
The Representative from Massachusetts 4th District, chairman of the House Financial Services Committee Barney Frank, reminding everyone that not only do you spell his middle name M-O-T-H-E-R-F-U-C-K-I-N', but that he goes through a 20 gallon drum of brass polish every month. Too bad he wasn't at the town hall with the "Heil Hitler" woman. I think he might have come down into the audience throwin' 'bows.

Awwwwwwwwww yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah!
Finally the brutal month+ long stretch where the city is forced to pay attention to the Pirates is over. We've made it through the dark times and are now free to start thinking about a Super Bowl defense, backup fullbacks, whether we should keep a sixth WR who won't play over a 6th CB who won't play, formulate a rough estimate of the number of rapist jokes we'll have to hear during this season, give some serious though to the fact that our defense might be better than last years, and contemplate whether we can legally sue Max Starks and the rest of the offensive line for stealing money.
Also, James Harrison drives a Smart Car. Didn't see that one coming. I guess he wants a car he can not only power lift but can dismantle with his bare hands and eat if he gets angry/hungry. Just goes to show you there is no situation in which #92 doesn't look like a complete badass.
