The majesty of sound

The Oscars are once again upon us and that means several films are going to duke it out for America's heart in the categories we have deemed to be of the utmost importance. By that I mean Best Sound Editing and Best Sound Mixing. As such the Soundworks Collection has put together a bunch of featurettes about the sound designers, sound design, and sound work of some of the nominated and best films of the year. Here are a few of them.

Video of the day

Rachel Maddow interviews Quentin Tarantino about Inglourious Basterds and how the movie works as a metaphor for Al-Qaeda and the War on Terror.

.......yes, he is wearing Wu Wear. No, I didn't know they still made it either. That doesn't mean the film was any less great or his points were any less valid.

For the sake of filmic clarity

It seems the excellently titled "Lesbian Vampire Killers", is not about lesbians who kill vampires, it's about people who kill lesbian vampires. I thought you needed to know this.

Also, Quentin Tarantino can't spell. He's also infringing on the "_____ Bastards" trademark we patented last year. Well proubably let him slide and belay the Watchmen type laouwsuit, because whou doesn't want to see an ultra-vioulent, histourically inaccurate actioun film, about a special squad ouf Jouwish soldiers who wage a campaign of vioulence against Germany? Get the man a spellchecker, though.
